I think I found one of the cheapest recipes for a Make Your Own Happy Hour Adventure ever. I already had all of the ingredients I needed at home to make it except for one item. And that item is notoriously cheap pasta.

Italian Ingredients

On top of it being super cheap, it doesn’t require a lot of ingredients either. For the most part, these are items that everyone should already have at home. For seasonings, all you need is garlic powder, Italian Seasoning, salt, and pepper One thing you may not have is grated Parmesan Cheese which I happened to have some lying around from recent meal prep.

Three Ingredient Cocktail

This cocktail was actually made for my Bacon Mozzarella Sticks Happy Hour Adventure. But I thought it was too fancy of a libation to be served with Bacon Mozzarella Sticks. As mentioned in that Adventure I had purchased a whole lot of ingredients for many upcoming Make Your Own Happy Hour Adventures. Luckily this concoction only requires three ingredients which makes things easy. I decided to make a classic Martini made with gin and went with a lemon iteration.

Martini

  • Ice

  • 2.5 oz Gin

  • 0.5 oz Dry Vermouth

  • Lemon

Martini

I also purchased some new glassware so this Martini glass was the perfect glass for a classic Martini. It’s important to serve a Martini in a cold glass to keep the drink at the perfect temperature. All I did was keep the glass in the freezer with some water for 20 minutes. In your cocktail shaker, you’ll shake up the Dry Vermouth and Gin with some ice. Then pour the contents in your cold glass. Then take a lemon peel and twist it over the drink to express the lemon oil from it and place it in the glass as a garnish. It made me realize that I should invest in a peeler to make a prettier garnish. Overall I’d say it was a decent drink but I do wish it had a little more going on for itself. Maybe if I used a better Gin it might have improved the taste especially when there are very few ingredients to shine through.

Mixing some Pasta

Now let’s get to cooking! I would definitely make the drink first so you can enjoy it while the pasta is boiling in some salted water. You’ll want it to be Al Dente which typically takes around 8 minutes for these bowtie pasta. Once cooked you’ll drain the water and put the pasta on in a mixing bowl. Then you’ll throw in all of the seasonings and the parmesan cheese into the bowl and get to tossing. Once you coat the pasta evenly you have two options for cooking. You can either fry them in vegetable oil or throw them in your trusty air fryer. I’m sure you can guess what option I went with. I made sure they were spread out on in one layer and set the air fryer at 400 degrees. I suggest cooking them for 8 minutes being sure to flip them halfway through.

Roasted Garlic Marinara

For our dipping pleasure, there’s only a couple of things that make sense for pasta. I went with some Roasted Garlic Marinara Sauce to make it a little more special than a regular marinara sauce. Although something else that I think would have made them quite delicious is some pesto. Thinking about it you could do a trio of sauces with marinara, pesto, and alfredo sauce to create the colors of the Italian flag.

Pasta Chips

Viola! A bowl full of crispy pasta chips! I would have never guessed you could make chips out of pasta. These chips were packed with cheesy and garlicky goodness. I also enjoyed the oregano and basil from the Italian Seasoning.

Dip Pic

Once that pasta chip is dipped in some marinara sauce they are improved by leaps and bounds. Because what is pasta without a sauce? The marinara sauce added extra garlic flavor along with that natural tangy sweetness you get from the tomatoes. In the future, I would love to try the pasta chips with some different sauces to see how the tasting experience will change.

I know this Adventure didn’t have an actual pasta dish necessarily but it did have pasta involved. I wanted to ask what is your favorite type of pasta dish?

Let me know down below in the comments and be sure to share with friends and family that would enjoy this Happy Hour.

May the adventures continue! Cheers!

  1. It's hard to go wrong enjoying any pasta dish. My favorite one to cook for myself rn is any type of noodle I have on hand, and I'll throw some type of squash in with the pasta like butternut or acorn or something, I've even thrown in broccoli to cook with the pasta and that was good too. Then I top it with a butternut squash pasta sauce and some parmesan. Voila. It tastes like I tried harder than I did. It would be good if I added chicken in there too but I haven't tried that yet.
