Another Take Out Taco Tuesday: Holé Molé

You know that I’m always a fan of Taco Tuesday! Who doesn’t love indulging in a variety of tacos with that flavorful salsa and a spike of citrus from the lime? If I had the choice I would probably be having tacos every single day. But for now, I think I will save them for Taco Tuesdays.

Tacos and a Tallboy

Would you look at that grand display above that permits us in its presence? But where could one possibly get all of these items at?

The entrance

Holy Moly it’s Holé Molé! This was actually my first time to Holé Molé. It is a small chain located throughout Southern California and luckily for me, there was one in Costa Mesa.

The menu

Just in case if you aren’t sure what to order there is a menu right outside so that way you don’t have to be inside with a bunch of people. However, in my case, I had called in my order and was just there to pick up.

Dining Area

As you can see it really isn’t a bar set up so not like a typical Happy Hour Adventure. But any place with good taco deals is considered a Happy Hour in my book. Another thing I noticed was that the tables are really distanced away from one another. I’m not familiar with how the set up was before but it’s great to see that they are taking social distancing seriously.

The Kitchen

As you can see there are a lot of screens to prevent contamination in the kitchen and even the register. All the employees are wearing masks even those working in a very hot kitchen. So after seeing the menu outside and inside I was not spotting the deal that I called in for. Holé Molé has a tallboy and 3 taco deal for $6 on Tuesdays! That is one amazing deal! If only I liked beer more but for $6 I couldn’t pass it up.

Dos Equis

I am not a big beer expert so I honestly just said I’ll take a Dos Equis to keep with the Mexican Meal. One thing I do have to say is that the design of the can is actually quite nice. I like how the X is showcasing all of the things one expects to eat and enjoy during the summer.

GoT Glass

I do not own any beer glasses, to be honest. Luckily for me, my roommate has plenty and was willing to lend me one. Of course, I had to go with a Game of Thrones-themed glass. Is there any fellow GOT fans out there? For me, the Dos Equis wasn’t really that bad especially when you squeezed in a little lime to brighten it up. Again I don’t see me going around drinking Dos Equis all the time though.

Carnitas Taco

Taco #1 was a little carnitas taco. As with any simple street taco, you are going to find a little bit of cilantro and onion for your eating pleasure. The carnitas themselves were alright just because when you’ve been to the places I’ve been you know what a good carnitas taco tastes like.

Carne Asada Taco

Now I present Taco #2 which is a carne asada taco. The look of this carne asada taco looks as if they cooked it in some sauce to give it a little more reddish tint. Typically the carne asada that I have tends to look like a steak taco. The flavor was there but I think something was missing.

Al Pastor Taco

Last but not least, Taco #3, the Al Pastor Taco. Al Pastor is one of my favorite types of tacos to partake in just because of all wonderful spices that are loaded into the meat. For all of the Happy Hour Adventurers that have been venturing with me since the beginning, you may remember I had an Al Pastor Taco at Acapulco. Although I don’t think this Al Pastor Taco lived up to the one I had at Acapulco.

Trio of Salsas

There is one little thing I forgot, Salsa! For me adding salsa can really help add some additional flavor to the dish. Which is what really helped improve the carne asada taco and pretty much all of them. Any guesses to which one I enjoyed the most? If you guessed the one to the left you are correct. Looking at it I can see a little smoke coming off of it from all that heat. The green salsa was the perfect fit for the carnitas tacos. The salsa at the bottom was like any typical salsa one may find anywhere.

Trio of Tacos

I love seeing a plate with a variety of tacos because it allows someone to try different ones. Sure these tacos may not have been the best I have ever had but for the grand total of $6 with a tallboy beer, I’d say it’s worth giving it a try.

  1. My favorite taco place around me is called mission taco. They have really unique tacos compared to anywhere else that I've eaten in town. Also they have super cheap tequila shots that really aren't bad.
